The wood on this umbrella is painted, not stained, and where I can see the grain it looks of fairly low quality. The rope that runs through the pulleys is thin, and the hardware of generally poor quality. As the other reviewer writes, yes, it works. But it's not a good deal and I don't think it will last very long.
Also, it's a hard item to return, so let the buyer beware.
